Regatta FAQ

Local regattas take place on the Occoquan River and can be viewed from the Sandy Run Regional Park most Saturday's in April and May.  Regattas are all day events and being prepared helps to make a great day a fantastic day.

Here are a few suggested items to consider bringing to a regatta to make the experience even more enjoyable.  Of note, there is about a half mile walk to the grandstand on a somewhat rough trail, so choose your shoes accordingly. Packing everything in a back pack or other bag that leaves your hands free is wise.

  • Chair (compact/foldable)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug repellent
  • Hat
  • Binoculars
  • Camera
  • Cash (lunch for you and your rower, parking and T-shirt)
  • Heat sheet printouts
  • Snacks/drinks/water
  • Coffee thermos for the morning
  • Reading material (newspaper, books)
  • Umbrella, poncho, rain gear on “those days”
  • Blanket, coats, other layers, hand warmers on “those days”
  • Cowbell or other noise maker if you are one of “those”

You will also need to cheer!  You can use 'come on Bruins' or 'let's go Bruins', or a fan favorite, Row, Braddock, Row!  Click the video below for a demonstration!
