Meet the Lake Braddock Crew Coaching Staff

Coach Tracy Shakespeare is the Head Coach of Lake Braddock Crew. This is her sixth year coaching and her 3rd as the Women’s Varsity Coach. Last season her Lightweight Eight medaled at States, coming in 3rd place and earning a chance to race at SRAA’s. In her first 3 years with the team she coached the freshman/novice team winning several races and medaling at the Ted Phoenix (Lower Boat) Championship. Tracy earned her Level III Coaching Certification last December from USRowing. She is also CPR/first aid certified. She has rowed with the Prince William Rowing Club and continues to organize, and row with, the Bull Run Rowers, a Master Rowing Program she helped start in 2006. When not rowing with the Bull Run Rowers she can be seen rowing her single on the Occoquan. Tracy grew up on the Chesapeake enjoying various water sports and played Women's Field Hockey both in High School and College. Tracy works for the Fairfax County Health Department at Annandale High School.

Coach Joseph Liddle is the Men's Varsity Coach. Coach Liddle began his rowing career at George Mason University where he rowed for four years. He raced at the Head of the Schuylkill, Dad Vail regatta, Johns Hopkins Invitational and GW Invitational. He gold medaled in the Heavyweight 4 at the Knecht Cup in 2006 and has medaled at the following regattas: Head of the Occoquan (HOTO), Occoquan Challenge, and the Mid Atlantic Crew Championships. In 2010 he coached novices at James Madison High School and has coached at the Masters-Corporate level for Three Rivers Rowing Association in Pittsburgh. In the summer of 2011 he assisted in coaching Occoquan Juniors. He holds bachelor’s degrees in History and International Affairs from George Mason University and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Pittsburgh. When he is not on the water coaching or sculling, he is working towards his teaching license to be a history/social studies teacher within secondary education.
